What she truly longs for
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess and a little boy. The princess had a magical horse, named Horse, and they went on many adventures. The little boy loved her so much that he gave all that was precious to him away so he could have the opportunity to meet her and tell her how much he loved her. The little boy was sad because he no longer had anything precious to give the beautiful princess. One day, he found a wizard in the forest and asked if he could help him with a gift for the beautiful princess. With a wave of his wand, the wizard transformed the little boy into a noble prince. At first the boy was excited, but he began to realize that if the princess fell in love with the prince, he could never stop being the prince. He could never be the little boy ever again. He loved the princess so much that he felt hopeless, so he sat down and began to cry. Then, the wise owl who lived in the forest flew into the tree nearby and asked the boy why he was crying. The boy told his story and explained his dilemma and the wise owl listened intently. Finally, the wise owl told the boy that he must go on a quest to find a gift for the beautiful princess. With that on his heart, the little boy left the kingdom to pursue his quest. After many years, a man on horseback wearing coarse armor and carrying a broken shield rode up to the castle where the princess lived. When he called out to her, the princess didn’t recognize him as the little boy. He was now grown up and tested in battle. He told her many stories of conquest and adventure. He confessed that he had no precious jewels or treasures to present to her as a gift, but he invited her to join him on his quest and to be his Queen. There would be battles to fight and dragons to slay as they journeyed together side-by-side.

The moral of the story: Her greatest desire isn’t for a prince or jewels or treasure. Her heart longs to be invited into the adventure—to join you on your quest as you pursue God.
