I don’t usually set aside time to improving our vocabulary in this daily devotional, but this is one word I would love for you to know. I like it because it’s a little different and its definition is built in. In other words, the onus is literally “on us.”
Okay, so why dig into that word in particular? Years ago, one of my professors at Ouachita referred to a very troubling statistic. Only 1% of all believers will ever share the gospel, share their testimony, or lead a person to Christ during their lifetime. So much for:

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

We must not allow this statistic to remain true--the onus is on us! We cannot love others the way Jesus loved us and remain silent. That would be similar to discovering the cure for a terminal illness and then keeping it to ourselves. That would most definitely be the opposite of love.
So, set aside time today to write out your story and consider these questions. What led you to your need for God? Why Jesus? What was it like for you to pray and surrender your life to Christ? How does someone do that? What has changed? How does this impact your daily life? Why are you certain that this is true and right for everyone? Why should a person have a personal relationship with God?
