The armor of God is Jesus
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

January 21, 2019 – I am in the midst of a raging battle for my heart. My flesh and spirit are in constant warfare. Too long have I allowed a stalemate on the battlefront. I cannot survive this kind of trench warfare. My heart can’t take it much longer. I fear the outcome of a major offensive launched by the enemy. I don’t want to fall! Holy Spirit, Word of God, strengthen me in this hour of peril. Help me to fight. Help me face my true enemy head on once and for all. I will not remain in hiding any longer. Today, I clothe myself in God’s armor—to FIGHT!

Some days you find yourself reaching a benchmark moment. Often it comes because you realize a truth that has been right in front of you, but you were never able to see it before. That was true for me the day I realized why putting on the armor of God actually works – the armor of God is Jesus.
The belt of truth—Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The breastplate of righteousness—we have “become the righteousness of Christ.” The shoes of the gospel—the gospel is the story of Jesus. The helmet of salvation—Jesus paid the price for our sin and purchased our salvation through his blood. The shield of faith—true faith is “the gift of God so that no man can boast.” The sword of the spirit which is the word of God—Jesus is the living word of God.
Putting on the armor of God is, in effect, putting the person and work of Jesus over our lives. He has already defeated Satan, sin, and death, so when we walk, clothed in Christ, we walk in his victory over our enemy.
