The Accuser
March 15, 2019 - I believe that today is a significant day in my life. It may sound unusual, but I have been dealing with a foul spirit that has been tormenting me since I was just a boy. Today, in prayer, I asked its name and it responded, “Bruce.” I realized immediately that it has been telling me that for years. While I know that we are led astray by our own evil desires or “flesh,” they are not who I am. They do not define me! This demon is not my true nature, but my accuser. For if I am in Christ, I am made new. I am not a slave or orphan. I will no longer give credence to the accusations of this foul spirit. Today, I stand acquitted by the blood of Jesus in the presence of the Almighty God.

Did you know that the Hebrew word Satan means accuser? I am certain that you have heard, like me, the voice of his accusation, telling you that you’re a failure, a loser, and destined to always live as one. Son, these are not the words of your Savior who paid for a relationship with you with his life. These words of accusation will never come from his heart or out of his mouth. He speaks love. He speaks forgiveness. He speaks restoration and healing. So, what do you do when you hear those words?
- Claim the truths of God’s word over your life. The book of Romans is a great place to dive in and see a clear picture of the life Jesus has purchased for you.
- Once again, break any agreements you have made with your accuser. We do this to close off any open doors we have allowed him to have in our lives.
- Banish these accusations and this foul spirit from your life in the name of Jesus.

But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.
