The world needs love
January 17, 2019 – Love really is the only way to catch the eye of those stranded in sin. How do we overcome so much hatred that has been wrought in the name of Christ? How can we get the lost world to see Christ again from a new perspective? Is this cause a hopeless one? By God’s grace, may it never be!

I wrote you previously sobbing and with a broken heart. I was filled with anguish and deep distress. I had no intention of causing you pain but to convey the overwhelming measure of my love for you. For the one who has caused me grief has not only grieved me but, to some extent, has caused you all grief as well. I believe that your united rebuke has been punishment enough for him. Instead of more punishment, what he needs most is your encouragement through your gracious display of forgiveness. I beg you to reaffirm your deep love for him.

As the church, by which I mean all believers everywhere, we realize that we have been blessed beyond measure to receive the favor of God through the powerful work of Christ on the cross and his resurrection. Like Uncle Ben always said, “With much power there is much responsibility.”
Representing God in the world is the ultimate responsibility. Unfortunately, many things have been done in the name of Christ throughout our history which have resulted in more damage than good. Today, we have to live with that track record of anger, abuse, manipulation, and just about every other thing you could define as the opposite of love. While we can’t undo history, we don’t have to repeat it either. So, the question is then, what can we do today to show genuine love and begin the process of rebuilding the kind of trust that will lead people to faith in Christ?
