What is God’s word? How do we understand and interpret it? What makes it different from any other ancient document? Are these words from Paul to Timothy still true today?
People have a lot of questions when it comes to understanding the Bible. Growing up and into your faith you’ve asked questions like these as well. I came across this entry in my journal after one of our conversations:

December 28, 2019 – We must not be guilty of evaluating the stories in God’s word based upon the opinions and reasoning of man. We must evaluate everything in light of these truths: God, you are good. God, you are love. God, you are just. These aren’t just things you do; they are truly who you are. You protect and provide. This is your nature—your character.

Since then, I have learned to see God’s word in a new light. Yes, it contains many stories and teachings and wisdom for life, but most importantly, God’s word is God’s story. He is the main character, and everything contained within reveals to us who God is and the depth of his amazing love for us. Think of the stories of people like, Abraham, David, and Esther. When you see God as the main character and everyone else as supporting cast, you see how God reveals his nature both to and through people. Paul wrote his letters to the churches to pass along all he was learning about God as he walked with him and served him. When we learn to read God’s word in this way, we begin to see the bigger picture that has been HIS story all along.
