Jesus Loves Me

Sometimes it is the simplest truth that delivers the biggest punch.

January 29, 2020 – Last night I was awakened from a terrible dream. It felt demonic in nature. It has been a long time since I’ve had a nightmare like this one. It was such a spiritual attack. I felt fear and disgust so heavy over me. The worst part was that in that moment my mind seemed to go blank. I couldn’t remember anything from God’s word. No verses of scripture would come to me. I couldn’t think of the lyrics of any worship songs. I felt so helpless to defend myself from the evil that was closing in around me. Then, out of seemingly nowhere came the words, Jesus loves me. Suddenly, I was on my feet again, singing those words from the song I learned as a child. My mind cleared. Memory of God’s word returned and the weight upon me fell away in an instant. Jesus thank you for loving me!

The truth that Jesus Loves Me, broke through the spiritual fog and warfare that attempted to instill fear deep in my subconscious mind. That’s the most wonderful thing about truth. Lies never have power over even the smallest truth. I think that’s why Jesus described this idea using the metaphor of light versus darkness.

Darkness feels… heavier, as if it is the most powerful of all forces. The darkest of nights feels cold and never-ending, but the glow of sunrise begins to push the darkness away even before the first rays of sunlight peak over the horizon. Truth is so important. It sets us free from every seed of lies that Satan attempts to sow into the soil of our hearts. Son, you must know what God’s word says—what it says about who God really is, what it says about what he thinks about you, what it says about sin, forgiveness, and eternal life. The truth is, Jesus does love you. He always has. He always will. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. This is the truth.
