Have faith in God

Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.”

"The first and primary object of the work was, and still is, that God might be magnified by the fact that the orphans under my care are provided with all they need, only by prayer and faith, without any one being asked by me or my fellow-laborers, whereby it may be seen that God is faithful still, and hears prayer still."

Son, we are living in difficult days for faith. I remember George Müller writing about so many people in his day not really believing that God still answers prayer. Maybe we are once again living in such a time. Many of our prayers lean toward playing it safe when it comes to asking God for anything. There are definitely prayers of desperation that we cry out when our backs are against the wall, but where is the faith that once boldly asked and saw the apostle Peter miraculously delivered from a Roman prison? Where is the faith that enabled Paul to know that nothing could harm him until his work for the kingdom of God was finished? Where is the faith, like George Müller, to say, God, I am going to ask you and no one else. Reveal yourself as the God who still answers prayer.

When you read this, you will remember that we are in such a season. Everything within me is telling me to get out there and put in the effort to make my own way through this situation. That is the world’s wisdom. Your mom and I have decided that we won’t listen to anyone but Jesus in this. We are choosing to believe that God will come through as we remain faithful to look only to Him. It’s not easy. It feels a little scary and sometimes a bit crazy, but we will hold on. It is our prayer that you, too, will be foolish enough to “Have faith in God.”

I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
-Mark 11:23-24 (NLT)
